Harold Dee Colvard was born to Mr. and Mrs. Decatur Colvard of Ketchum Oklahoma on 21 Nov 1915. He attended NE Oklahoma Community College prior to attending NMAMC in fall 1939. He remained there until spring 1941. Enlisting in the US Army Air Force he was trained as a pilot flying C-47 transports in the China Burma India Theater. His main mission was to fly the transport plane across the hump into US air bases located in China. On 23 August 1944 he was flying a load of a fuel into Yangkai China when his plane, C-47 # 43-15381 crashed from unknown reasons. His remains, along with those of his flight engineer were recovered and today are interred at Fort Gibson Oklahoma Cemetery. Lt Colvard was 28 years of age at the time of his death and was survived by his wife, Lorean Colvard and two children.
