Lieutenant Melicio M Apodaca

Melicio M Apodaca was born in Garfield NM on June 3, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. SV Apodaca. After graduating from Hatch HS he enrolled at NMAMC in the 1933-34 school year where he majored in Agriculture. In May 1942 he enlisted in the USAAF where he was trained as a Bombardier for B-24 Liberator Bombers. On October 10, 1943, he was onboard B-24H (41-291815) on a training flight near Wayne Nebraska when the plane crashed for unknown reasons. All aboard were killed. He was married to Fay Makshaoff Apodaca and is buried in the Las Cruces Masonic Cemetery. He was 27 years old at the time of his death.
