Robert Joseph Williams was born April 24, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. Tim Williams and raised in Anthony NM. After graduating from Anthony High School he attended NMAMC for the fall semester 1935. New reports indicate that he played semi-professional baseball with the El Paso Texans. In October 1942 he enlisted in the US Army and volunteered for officer candidate school. He was sent to Camp Roberts near San Francisco, California. While there he came down with an undiagnosed disease. He was eventually flown home to El Paso and admitted to William Beaumont Army Hospital. There, on January 14, 1943 he died. He was buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Private Robert Joseph Williams was 27 years of age at the time of his death.
