Tech 4 Bryan Armstrong
Bryan Armstrong, the youngest of ten children to John and Nellie Armstrong, was born on June 2, 1915 in House NM. His father died when Bryan was 2 years old. Raised in House, he enrolled at NMAMC for the 1937 – 38 school year. In January of 1944 he enlisted in the US Army. He was assigned to the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. The 90th ID, also known as the Texas – Oklahoma Division or “Tough Ombres” entered combat on 6 June 1944 when it landed at Utah beach and was engaged in combat operations from that point until cessation of hostilities. The 90th was involved in severe fighting throughout, suffering a loss rate of 196% by war’s end. Assigned to General Patton’s Third Army, the 90th ID was instrumental in the relief of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. On January 10, 1945 the 359th was engaged in fighting around Trentelhof, Luxembourg as part of the Battle of the Bulge. Bryan Armstrong was killed in action, his body recovered and today he lies in rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. He was 30 years of age at the time of his death.
